The solutions used to treat post-operative scars – silicone patches, creams, massage, pressure therapy – do not significantly reduce cicatricial complications or improve the aesthetic aspect of scars. Today, the laser method reduces the unaesthetic appearance of scars, but these treatments take time and their success depends greatly on the user’s experience. The scar-healing process can also be improved by injecting pro-scarring drugs, still under development, which target the scarring process itself. With both of these approaches, the earlier the intervention takes place the better the outcome will be. The very first laser-assisted Skin-healing system EkkyLite® focuses specifically on the wound closure phase, i.e. at the very beginning of the scar-healing process. As soon as the incision is closed, the surgeon will be able, using EkkyLite®, to precisely heat up his patients’ skin tissue to modulate the biologic response involved: this speeds up the healing process to reduce, or even erase any surgical traces of his action. By developing this original approach which combines therapeutic, aesthetic and practical benefits, Ekkyo today makes laser technology available to surgeons and, tomorrow, to all specialists facing scar-related issues.
