The company Gama, akciová spoleènost Èeské Budìjovice, was founded in 1986, from what was then the industry enterprise, KOH-I-NOOR HARDTMUTH. During the ensuing years, the company went through several major transformations, including the change in its legal form in 1990, when it became a joint-stock company with the gradual taking over of control of the former sister company KOH-I-NOOR HARDTMUTH a.s. (gradually since 1994) which originally existed only for the purpose of manufacturing school and office supplies. The process peaked in 1999 with the transfer of facilities producing school and office supplies of renowned trademarks, back from Gama, to the subsidiary KOH-I-NOOR HARDTMUTH a.s..
At present, the main production program of Gama consists of the development, manufacture, domestic sales and export of disposable medical, veterinary and laboratory aids. The basic technology employed is the injection molding of plastics. Medical products are sold under the verbal and symbolic trademark, Gama.
The production process of the last mentioned products meets the strictest requirements for medical production, – i.e. the conditions of “good production practices” and it is certified by TÛV Bayern, Germany for ISO 9002.
The products are sold by the company headquarters in Ceské Budejovice, or by the subsidiary distribution company in Øíèany u Prahy to Jesenice u Prahy.
