Miele & Cie. KG, manufacturer of high-quality domestic and commercial machines, was founded by Carl Miele and his partner, Reinhard Zinkann, in 1899. The family-owned, family-run company has its central headquarters in Gütersloh, with most production plants nearby. Commercial cleaning technology for restaurant kitchens, medical applications and laboratories comes from the Miele plant in Bielefeld.
The product range includes, for example, laundry-care appliances and dishwashers for domestic and commercial use and commercial washer-disinfectors. ‘Forever better’ is the company philosophy which the founders coined in 1900. Since then, these two words have been the driving force behind research and development into new and improved products. At the threshold to the 21st century, Miele is a pioneer in many areas. The successful development of the company is reflected in the turnover of the Miele Group which totalled EUR 2.54 bn in the 2005/2006 business year. Over 15,000 people are employed at Miele throughout the world.
Currently, 38 international Miele subsidiaries and numerous importers and distributors are responsible for sales. In all countries in which Miele equipment is on the market, Miele has trained service engineers on standby. Miele Germany alone has 220 commercial service engineers on its payroll who attend further training courses several times a year.
