Bio-Skin a.s. was founded in January 2007 by research scientists specialized in biomedicine and key members of company GEL-MED International, professionals in medical devices production, while funding was secured by ARCA Capital Bohemia a.s. The main goal was to develop production of a new medical device Xe‑Derma® from acellular porcine dermis. Xe‑Derma® as a new bio-skin cover is designed to improve wound healing particularly of burn and torpid wounds. In January 2008 bio-cover Xe‑Derma® obtained CE certification and became ready for commercial distribution that started with marketing and sales activities. After successful start the company’s current focus is on biotechnology of further refinement of means for successful wound healing. We see the future in exploitation of stem cells and elaboration of new types of biopolymers.
