STI Medical Systems
Since the inception of the STI medical program in 1996, over $30 million of government contract and grant monies have been invested to fund the design and build of several generations of research instruments based on technology originally borrowed from classified military remote imaging applications.
The medical research instruments have primarily been multi-modal imaging devices that transmit white light for collecting reflectance imagery and ultraviolet (UV) light for collecting visible induced-fluorescence imagery. This research has provided a fundamental understanding of tissue optics. It has also provided valuable instrument and software design experience, which is enabling the Cervical MD product development efforts.
All of the experience and invested monies has allowed the company to accomplish substantially all of the technical risk reduction in advance of the current product development.
